About ISAUO

Who We Are

Mission — Iranian Students' Association University of Ottawa (ISAUO) provides a space for Iranian students to form a community by attending various cultural, educational, and entertaining events. ISAUO is committed to serving all Iranians without discrimination.

Vision — ISAUO is an inclusive non-profit organization that seeks to hold free or cheap events for the Iranian student community. ISAUO is welcoming to all members of the Iranian community to attend its events as long as it does not conflict with students' interests.

How We Support Students

In addition to holding entertaining events such as game nights, movie nights, book club gatherings, or annual Yalda and Nowruz celebrations, ISAUO holds orientation sessions for incoming students and organizes educational workshops that can help students with their needs. We are also responsive to students' questions on all our social media platforms (our email, Instagram, Telegram, and Discord) and can readily direct students to the resources they need.

How to get involved

There are many ways to get involved with ISAUO, from running for the executive board to coordinating a single event or helping as a regular volunteer.

Join the executive board

Run for executive positions at the annual general assembly (usually April): president, vice president, treasurer, social media coordinator, or volunteer coordinator. If a seat stays open, reach out and we’ll follow the constitution to fill it. The board meets monthly and sets direction, plans events, and makes budget decisions.

Coordinate an event

Ongoing events like game nights, movie nights, and the book club each have a coordinator. You can also lead a one-time event with ISAUO’s help for space booking and advertising. Coordinators are the point people who make sure the event runs smoothly.

Be a regular volunteer

Join the volunteer chat to give input on events, share ideas, and mark your availability when we call for help.
